Art was not encouraged as a career option for me when I was at school but I have always continued to do arts and crafts. I nursed for 36 years and when I retired due to poor health my husband encouraged me to fill my time with my art and crafts by letting me convert our garage into an art room/studio.

When my son finished 6th form and was looking to study art we went round universities deciding his next move and I wished I could go. Having investigated my options I applied to go to university. Now in my second year of a BA in fine art I have enjoyed my time very much. My art has changed as I have discovered new inspiration and methods. I have developed a love of printing and construction.

My son, after taking a break and studying Art and Design at Adult college has now joined me at the same university also studying Fine art.
